Kluang 2 days 1 night trip

Image
Talk about financial & time freedom. My uncle celebrated his 93rd birthday in Kontena Hotel Kluang recently with 108 relatives & friends. He had reserved the hotel with a scrumptious buffet dinner, complete with 15 rooms & swimming pool for whomever that wants to enjoy the facilities.  My whole family decided to take the opportunity to enjoy a short trip in Kluang. It has been ages since my dad went to Kluang.  Alas, I had work on both days that we are travelling...as my work is online, it means a 'go' for me...just needed some small twirks...and here we go... E-Learning VS conventional tuition (online/offline)

Image
Hi, in just a blink of an eye, school has started for more than a month already. I've came across some parents who has brought up the issue of tuition (online/offline) or e-learning is better? In my personal opinion, it seems like comparing an apple and an orange.. different category, I would say. I t does come to my attention that 1 of the mummy I've met, mentioned that she sent her 3 children to 'homework class' after school. It is extremely convenient for the mother as the center will pick up the children directly from school. Lunch & shower are provided. They will complete their schoolwork and attend tuition as well in the center...sounds marvellous? For her eldest son, he has been attending this center for the past 5 years. Recently, his mum noticed that their results has been deteriorating and her children are reluctant to attend this center. We spoke to her children and their feedback was the hours are too long!!! They have to wake up at 6.30am, attend schoo...

Appetizers for Malaysia Chinese New Year Potluck

Image
Malaysian Chinese New Year potlucks often feature a mix of traditional Chinese dishes along with Malaysian favorites. Here are some appetizer options that would be great for such an occasion: 1. Yee Sang (Prosperity Toss Salad) : A colorful salad made with shredded vegetables, pickled ginger, pomelo, crispy wonton strips, and various sauces. It's traditionally tossed high in the air with chopsticks while saying auspicious phrases. ( can be found in restaurants or supermarkets). Restaurants usually will include sashimi (raw fish slices). 2. Spring Rolls (Popiah) : Fresh spring rolls filled with a mixture of jicama, carrots, lettuce, tofu, and sometimes shrimp or pork, wrapped in thin rice paper and served with a sweet chili sauce (Thai chili sauce). For a twist, you can deep-fried the popiah. Personally, I prefer Vietnamese spring roll. They are wrapped with long, fresh chives and soo hoon. 3. Prawn Fritters (Cucur Udang) : Deep-fried batter containing prawns, onions, and vegetables...

AI Bathroom Cleaning Robot. Will it affect Malaysians?

It was a little too quiet but exhausting week. You must be wondering why the opposite? Well, my parents went on a holiday trip to China, and I was stuck with my youngest 5-year-old boy. My husband and oldest son were busy with their work and that only left me alone with my youngest who can be a little too clingy as there was no one else at home.  As expected, we could hear my parents' voices the moment they opened their car doors as they reached home. Sounds and feels like Chinese New Year, with my boy all excited and thrilled to finally see his favourite grandparents.  While busily unpacking and sharing their animated holiday experiences, 2 of their astonishing encounters really left me in awe. It was related to my New Year Resolution that I had posted on 03 November 2023. I had just planned to have a financial reserve for my boys in case of uncertainties. While listening to my parents' fascinating journey, it suddenly awakened me that I should speed up my plans. Their first ...

Who is the victim?

Image
12.11.2023 ( Sunday ) ( Deepavali Day) A real-life event which caught my family by surprise and for me personally, pondering mode... who is the victim? My father-in-law went to his usual 'makan' place, a Chinese eatery with many food stalls in a corner shop. As sure as the Earth rotates around the Sun, he will be alone sipping his hot cuppa and enjoying his lunch at his favorite table while watching the busy lives of people around him. On the other hand, I had just finished sharing a Zoom session with my students' mum. We had a great bonding time by sharing ideas on empowering her children in their studies by using a proven effective Online Learning Programme and some of my parenting tips from my experience. I was on cloud nine as we managed to work out a solution to work around her busy schedule. Resolution for 2024, Plan B

Image
Have you prepared your New Year Resolution for Year 2024? It's only 2 months away. This has got me into wearing my thinking cap... What is my 2024 Resolution? Truly...what do I want in life? Look slimmer? buying the brand X bag?...nah, these were in my mind before the pandemic. Looking at my 2 boys (age 21 & 5 years old), I'm starting to worry...for them. What does their future hold? I see the struggle of my eldest who is in a rat race (a hairstylist) earning around 3k a month. Let's break it down:  Socso + KWSP 700 petrol 600 phone bill 200 food 600 entertainment 400 savings 500 If he were to maintain his savings of RM 500 monthly, annually, he has only RM 6000 in his bank. Well, not to mention, holiday & birthday gifts, doctor's bills, insurance ... and the list goes on... What is going to happen to him if another lockdown is being implemented? If his job is being replaced by AI? How many months can he survive? Gosh, a mother has so many things running in her ...
